| Upon arriving an hour and 45 minutes into the planned two-hour event benefiting the Atlanta Braves Foundation and the Children's Craniofacial Association, the Oscar winner automatically received a standing ovation from the 600 attendees crammed into the upstairs banquet rooms. "I was getting older just waiting through the introduction," Cher joked while clipping a microphone onto her slim black two-piece outfit accented by her long flowing black hair and glittering matching clog shoes. WXIA-TV news anchor Brenda Wood conducted the fire-less "fireside chat" with the star as disposable cameras flashed throughout the audience. Organizers blamed the star's tardiness on a recent bout of food poisoning. As the singer recalled her days with ex-husband Sonny Bono, she sipped on a Coke. "Everyone remembers the clothes Bob Mackie designed for me during 'The Sonny & Cher Show' but it was a lot of work. Every Wednesday night, Bob and I would spend three hours trying on and fitting the next week's outfits. I felt like a paper doll. I remember thinking as I tried on one outfit, 'Sonny's gonna have a heart attack when he sees me wearing this.' It was a loincloth with the side removed. When Sonny saw it, he was a little bit . . . Italian." Cher told the standing-room-only crowd that she doesn't care much for the current "reality" TV trend. "What we did was stupid and naive and fun. Today, TV is just cruel. I don't know why people feel the need to debase themselves publicly. I don't think you should crush your spirit to get on TV. I was flipping around last night and saw Ricki Lake and thought, 'Christ, she's still on? I guess that means Springer still has a job, too.'" http://www.accessatlanta.com/partners/ajc/xsite/buzz/index.ht |

| 3 June - Cher is coming to Atlanta! THE ATLANTA BRAVES WIVES PRESENT "COFFEE TALK" ATLANTA - For the seventh consecutive year, the Atlanta Braves Wives present their fundraising event, "Coffee Talk". It will be held Thursday, June 28, 2001 from 1 pm - 3 pm at Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant in Buckhead. Each year, this women's reception features prominent and accomplished women sharing conversation in a relaxed and inviting setting over coffee and dessert. This year, Coffee Talk will feature the Academy and Grammy Award winning actress/recording artist Cher. Atlanta's own Channel 11/WXIA-TV news anchor Brenda Wood will facilitate the event in a cozy, "fireside chat" setting. This is only the second year that tickets may be purchased by the general public. Tickets for Coffee Talk are $55, and proceeds will benefit the Atlanta Braves Foundation and the Children's Craniofacial Association (CCA), for which Cher is Honorary Chairperson. CCA provides programs and services to facially disfigured children and their families to empower them and give hope. Cher's initial involvement with CCA extends back to her role as the mother of a child with a craniofacial deformity in the movie Mask. In 1990, she conceived the idea of a camp/retreat for families to come together, share experiences and ideas, solve problems, gain emotional support and make lifelong friends. The 10th Annual Cher's Family Retreat Weekend will also be held here in Atlanta, June 28 - July 1. Some of the previous guests at Coffee Talk have been: hosts of TBS Superstation's "Dinner & a Movie,"Paul Gilmartin & Annabelle Gurwitch; Entertainment Tonight's weekend co-anchor Julie Moran; and former Congresswoman Susan Molinari (R-NY). Since its inception, Coffee Talk has raised nearly $150,000 for the Atlanta Braves Foundation to benefit the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women & Children. For more information, or to obtain tickets, please call the Atlanta Braves Community Relation Department at (404) 614-2305. When you call this phone number, you will get a recording. The recording gives instructions to mail your check for $55.00 to the Atlanta Braves and they will contact you via phone concerning your reservation. I sent in my money, so hopefully I will get a call soon!

28 May - The new Cher Doll arrives in Walmart stores nationwide!
Today, I was lucky enough to find my new Cher Doll at the local Atlanta Walmart on Highway 92, Woodstock, GA. There were 3 of them up on the top shelf. The cost was $37.97. Back in November 2000, I had ordered one Cher Doll online but have not received it yet! Cost online was $35.00 plus shipping. Not knowing if I will ever receive my online Cher Doll, I jumped at the chance to purchase my Cher Doll so I can immediately look at her. If I do receive the online one, then I will have two, one to play with and one to keep unopened. One can never had too many Cher dolls! |

26 April - "When is Cher's next album coming out?" and "What is the Title?" and "What kind of songs will be included?" are questions that can be found on almost every Cher-dedicated web site and is the main topic of conversation these days in Cher-dedicated chat rooms.
Cher has lovingly called her sequel to "Believe" the "Son of Believe". We are sure a catchy, meaningful, less than 3 word title will be dreamed up by the "Cher Dreamteam" or even by Cher herself! Our vote is another one-word title. As to the type of songs that will be included on Cher's new CD, we have been given a few hints over the last few months. One article talked about Cher almost slipping in her bathtub as she was singing and dancing while practicing her new lyrics. So at least a few songs are probably dance tunes. And of course, what is a Cher CD without at least one ballad, sung with her emotion-filled accents. Maybe a remake of a good oldie, also has been rumored and much appreciated by diehard Cher fans, including this one. So, when will this sequel CD hit the stores? Speculation is high, with rumors from July to August, but we certainly hope before Christmas! Will it be released and promoted first in UK. like Believe? It would seem likely, as this seems to be Cher's history..... Will we see a 2002 "Son of Believe" concert tour - I HOPE SO! And how about Atlanta to start with, huh Cher? We know how much you love Georgia!
