If These Wall Could Talk - 1997
Movie Review

Set in a single suburban house, this made-for-cable trilogy examines the evolution of women's right to choose an abortion in three disparate years: 1952, 1974, and 1996. From the pre-"Roe V. Wade" back-alley option, to the mid-'70's struggle between conscience and career, to the hot-button, controversial decision faced in the '90's, the issue is given its due. This film spans forty years, and is composed of three stories that tackle the subject of pregnancy -- and the changing attitudes and mores towards it. The first tale chronicles a woman's disheartening efforts to abort her baby during the 1950's, when the procedure was still illegal. The second story takes place in the 1970s, and centers on Barbara, a married mom who's just returned to college. However her attempt to balance home life and school is shattered when she discovers she's pregnant. The final tale is set in the 1996, and explores the subject of abortion. The story is told from the points of view of a pro-choice pregnant woman and her pro-life roommate -- and their disagreement results in violence...
